<P><FONT color=black><STRONG>Michael James Owen Pallett (born September 7, 1979) is a composer, violinist, and singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and winner of the inaugural Polaris Music Prize.</STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=black><STRONG>Pallett is best known as the principal member of the band formally known as Owen Pallett, formerly "Final Fantasy", which is essentially a solo project, although Leon Taheny is also credited as drummer and engineer. The name <I>Final Fantasy</I> was a tribute to the well-known video game series, of which Pallett is a fan. Pallett is to retire the name Final Fantasy with the release of <I>Heartland</I>. </STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=black><STRONG></STRONG></FONT>&nbsp;</P>
<P><FONT color=black><STRONG><FONT color=red><EM>Heartland</EM> is scheduled to be released January 12, 2010 on Domino Records. It's the first of Pallett's records that will be released under his own name. </FONT>Since the album will be his first to be released in Japan, he wished to avoid generating confusion with the Final Fantasy video games from Square Enix, and to avoid infringing on any trademarks. Pallett stated that his previous albums will be repackaged and reissued under his own name at some point. The record was mixed by New York producer Rusty Santos.</STRONG></FONT></P>
