[b][size=2]Meet GMM Grammy’s latest special girl project group, Black Beauty, featuring Kaew Zaza, flopped soloist Zita Zalia, unknown to me Eve Puttida, and female rapper Nara Chompoonich, following in the tradition of all the previous Covergirls albums and doing 90s-ish dance pop/techno covers of popular rock songs. First of all, I gotta say I’m not too fond of the name, just cause it makes me think of the horse ahah. And how depressing that story was because it died (Black Beauty died in the story, right? It’s been a while aha.)
But anyway, so kind of turned off by the name, I saw their first single, “ยาพิษ / Yah Pit (Poison),” on the new releases section, thinking oh goodness, not another group covering that Bodyslam song. Then to see who was actually in the group, I was surprised! Mainly over Zita. I can remember listening to her old solo album in my ex-boyfriend’s car, back when she was so innocent and young and simple, I totally didn’t recognize her now with her sexy outfits and short hair! But anyway, the music video for “Yah Pit” isn’t particularly earth-shattering, but then again neither is the cover itself. If you’re into that sort of style of dance songs, it isn’t bad, has a nice beat, and is a nice pop version of the infamous rock hit, but when they sing together, none of their voices are particularly strong enough to really carry it home. In fact, it’s kind of bad. Nara’s english raps and intros seem a little out of place too, and man, none of them can dance, not a single one.
