Betcha Bottom Dollar is the debut album of the close harmony trio The Puppini Sisters. It was released in the U.K. on July 31, 2006 and in the U.S. on May 1, 2007.

From the first strains of the opening track, "Sisters," it's clear that Betcha Bottom Dollar is not a typical debut album. But then the Puppini Sisters are not a typical pop act, at least not in the 21st century. Their close, three-part harmonies are reminiscent of the vocal groups of the 1930s and 1940s, and particularly the Andrews Sisters. But rather than sounding like an anachronism, the Puppini Sisters merely demonstrate the timelessness of some of these songs. Betcha Bottom Dollar is fresh, fun and vibrant, blowing the dust off of cobwebby classics like "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Mr. Sandman". Elsewhere, they also put their own unique stamp on more recent hits, with varying results. While Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" fail to get things swinging, Blondie's "Heart of Glass" and the Smiths' "Panic" are both injected with a fresh new (old?) sound. Much credit must also be given to producer Benoit Charest, who manages to employ a whole host of instrumentation and orchestration, whilst never forgetting to put the voices of the Puppini Sisters front and centre. It might be easy to dismiss the Puppini Sisters' debut as another novelty album, but their intentions and love for the style--like their voices themselves--are crystal clear.

Will.i.am, whose unstoppable run as a producer may have temporarily rubbed the sheen off his reputation as an artist, pulls it off in his own radiant, loopish, never-boring way. The best of this batch of songs chronicles a failed real-life relationship: "Over," which was co-written with Jeff Lynne and plucks from ELO's way-cool "It's Over," leads the pack with a bust-the-walls-in beat, and it's followed by the excellently unruly related numbers "Heartbreaker," "One More Chance," "Invisible," and "Fantastic." Listen to the hip-hoppy lyrics to these songs--several resonate through the hoots, horns, and hype--and you get the sense Will.i.am's appetite for the meaninglessly spectacular has diminished. But then "The Donque Song" comes along. Bouncing off a lot of electronic beats, booty references, and sly asides by Snoop--Girls' only guest star--"Donque" does its pulse-raising thing in classic out-there Will.i.am form; ditto first single "I Got It from My Mama," which traffics in sound effects and Black Eyed Peas-type call and response. "S.O.S.," a plea sent out on behalf of the environment, ends the disc on a somber note, but don't expect to walk off feeling all serious; Songs About Girls sucks its listeners way too far into the center of a stylish, if gloriously unhinged, universe for that.

In composing the music for acclaimed director Danny Boyle's intoxicating new film Slumdog Millionaire, A.R. Rahman has conjured the sound of a city, fusing the frenetic scramble of daily life in Mumbai, India into beautiful fugues that ride upon the dust clouds kicked up by its everyday people.
From the movie's first frames --- with children racing through alleyways, knocking over merchants and pottery, police kicking loose clay roof tiles, disrupted birds fluttering from gutters -- we hear the sound of their commotion made manifest in "O... Saya." It's a rumbling hybrid of Bollywood and hip-hop, a brand new collaboration between Rahman and M.I.A. It's the kind of cinematic moment where image and sound coexist. And that's only the first five minutes.

Filmed in the streets and slums of Mumbai, India, Boyle needed just the right music to compliment the film's cinema verité urban realism. He turned to internationally renowned composer A.R. Rahman (a huge star in South Asia--selling more than 100 million albums worldwide and 200 million cassettes--Rahman is one of the world's top 25 all-time top selling recording artists.) The film's score is central to the propulsive modern grit that pervades the story, but is also a nod to classic Bollywood productions where the music is front and center. And loud. Says Rahman, "We wanted it edgy, upfront. Danny wanted it loud."

M.I.A.'s appreciation for Bollywood music led her to record much of last year's Kala inside A.R. Rahman's studio in India, although the two had never worked together until now. Referring to him in URB magazine as "the Indian Timbaland," M.I.A. obviously jumped at the chance to work on "O... Saya" with the famed composer. Rahman says, "She's a real powerhouse. Somebody played me her CD and I thought, `Who is this girl? She came here and knew all my work, had followed my work for ages. I said, `Cut the crap, this "my idol" crap. You have to teach me.'"

M.I.A. crops up again, later in the film, with the remix of her worldwide hit "Paper Planes" seemingly made for Slumdog, as the lyrics pronounce, "Sometimes I feel like sitting on trains..." while a light blue locomotive chugs and hurls its way through India, young boys perched up top in the sepia sunlight scoping out for a scrap of food.

Other songs on the soundtrack include "Gangsta Blues," featuring hip-hop artist BlaaZe, which flutters with the rhythms of a film projector, capturing a bit of the madness of crowds as they disperse in a thousand directions to escape the claustrophobia of back alleys. And nothing quite prepares you for the triumphant climax, the overarching ode to joy that is "Jai Ho," closing out the film in a rousing sing-a-long that's had film audiences burst into spontaneous applause. As Rahman told Variety, "The energy of the film takes you through a roller coaster, and that's one of the main inspirations for the whole music."

[size=2]仔细读了散漫的开场，这是对现实与音乐的思考还是对自我的进一步认知？还看到你的红字，最后的礼物，确实，作为一直支持的论坛你已经给了至爱很多，也许说得过于沉重了，呵呵，但对于国歌和最好的音乐在哪里这样的疑问也许真的很难回答，但如果给出一个答案的话我觉得应该是：穿透内心所听到的声音吧，而这样来看也许要排除到一些音乐类型了，但并不局限于人声，因为位于顶点声音的感觉并不仅仅是人声，自然可能才是最好的。
看帖说多了，哈哈，生活还是比较美好的，思考的同时不应带有过于的理性，因为 现实。[/size]
