本名叫做Adrian Thaws的Tricky，父親在他出生之前就離開家裡，而母親更在他四歲時自殺身亡，從小在英國貧民區Knowle West長大的他，充滿傳奇色彩的人生歷練，讓Tricky以他低聲緩調的吟唱，堆疊出晦暗卻豐厚且多層次的音樂曲風，來傾訴自己異於他人的感受。Tricky1995出道的首張專輯《Maxinquaye》，以紀念亡母Maxine Quaye而命名，專輯巧妙地將hip-hop、soul、rock、electronica這四大元素做了最和諧的組合，推出之後，便一舉獲得英國水星音樂獎的提名，更被知名音樂雜誌NME票選為年度最佳專輯，也讓他成功地成為Trip-hop這個音樂類型的代名詞。而Tricky出色的音樂才華，也隨即受到PJ Harvey、Bjork、Alanis Morissette…等藝人的關注，紛紛尋求合作。
Mixed Race is Tricky's ninth studio album, due for release on 27 September 2010. It will be his second album released through Domino Records, following 2008's Knowle West Boy.Mixed Race was recorded in Paris, where Tricky currently lives, and has been described by Domino Records as "his most passionate album to date". Tricky himself has described it as "the most uptempo album I've done". Musically, the album takes influence from UK, Jamaican, US, North African and French music. Guest artists include Franky Riley, Terry Lynn, Bobby Gillespie, Hakim Hamadouche, Blackman, and Tricky's youngest brother Marlon Thaws. "Murder Weapon" will be released as the first single on 30 August 2010.
