Nottz Raw (a.k.a. Nottz) and Asher Roth join forces for a collaborative EP, naturally titled Rawth. 8 tracks of, well, raw hip hop. A couple of the previous leaks were solid, but didn't blow me away, but now I have the chance to hear them in context of the project, which usually makes for a different experience. Chicago is represented on this one by Rhymefest, who appears in feature form on one of the EP's standout lyrical records: "Comin' & Goin'". Other features include Kardinal Offishall and D.A. (of Chester French), but it is Nottz & Asher who stand out the most on this one from the very start as the EP's first track "Don'tcha Wanna Be? (My Neighbor)" is one of my favorites on the tape (labeled as 'Intro' on the back cover?). You can't go wrong to at least give this project a listen - one that should satisfy your itch for some new raw hip hop. Enjoy!
