More recently, she’s been touring with Geoff Wilkinson’s jazz-based hip hop group, US3 in support of the 2004 ‘remix’ of their hit Cantaloop (the classic one from 1992 with the Herbie Hancock’s ‘Cantaloupe Island’ sample).

This touring led to the pair of them co-writing and recording this album in Geoff’s East London studios. As you’d imagine the style is R&B/Soul/Jazz/Funk mostly in a downtempo fashion. Musically, it works best for me when in more hip hop broken groove like ‘Let Him Go’ and ‘Fantasy’ than the sexy R&B chanteur.

She is clearly a very talented singer but there’s quite a lot of ‘Hall & Oates’ feel that’s not to my taste. ‘Changes’ shows off her range but like ‘Higher’ (not a cover of the Roy Ayers classic), it is another one that’s got that ‘haven’t I heard that one before’ feeling from the eighties soul Library of Smooth FM/Radio 2.
