MercyMe will bring their words of faith to First Baptist Haughton tomorrow night in a show that will feature both new and classic hits.
Nathan Cochran with the popular Christian group said fans will hear songs from their new album, “The Hurt and the Healer,” as well as tunes that sent the group soaring to the top of music charts over the last decade.
The new album, which is set to release on May 22, includes fresh sounds that Cochran said may be a surprise to fans.
“There's stuff that is pretty guitar heavy this time around,” he said. “Because of songs like 'I Can Only Imagine', people don't usually think of us that way.”
However, Cochran said the group is excited about its release next month.
“We rushed toward the end to put the finishing touches on it so it's nice to be done,” he said. “Now, we are ready for people to hear it.”
'The Hurt & The Healer' album features signature MercyMe anthems, engaging pop songs and intimate moments. In a place like a community church, Cochran said the setting takes them back to a time before they were Grammy-nominated, American Music Award and multi-GMA Dove Award winners.
