《情約半生》（Before Midnight）是電影《情留半天》（Before Sunrise）和《日落巴黎》（Before Sunset）的續集。前兩部電影，以特殊的形式、極佳的劇本與卓越的對手戲，樹立愛情電影的新典範。1990年代的電影有如此突破，實是罕見。前兩集已是經典，第三集作為此系列的可能完結篇，也拍出了不遜前兩集的經典性，甚至猶有過之。

若把這三部片以三部曲作為一個系列，三部電影都在談一個主題，就是愛情。《情留半天》講一對心靈契合的男女邂逅的過程，《日落巴黎》講他們經過多年的分離，歷盡艱辛後重新相遇的真愛旅程。而《情約半生》談的，正是靈魂伴侶相愛之後面臨的考驗。
