About the Artist
Pumpkinhead, Block McCloud and Mr. Metaphor all grew up in the same area of Park Slope, Brooklyn, submerged in music and hip-hop culture. Together, the emcees created a series of singles and mixtapes in the area which eventually produced a loyal fanbase, hungry for the raw, authentic hip hop that only Brooklyn Academy could produce.
Not too many rappers are left from that era, yet the three Brooklyn emcees have all consistently released singles and albums to a still-hungry fanbase. Mr. Metaphor released the self-produced Metropolis in 2005 and was picked to the Rawkus 50, who put out 2007's The Evolution of Marc Bars. Pumpkinhead gained widespread notice with "Dynamic," a ferocious single that was on every backpacker's cassette tape back in the day. He's released numerous solo albums including 2001's The Old Testament, 2003's Beautiful Mind and 2005's Orange Moon Over Brooklyn. In addition to emceeing, Block McCloud, the "Captain Hook" of the group, who's supplyied the chorus to many of BA's tracks, as well as recent collaboration with Jedi Mind Tricks, Sean Price, & Jean Grae, has earned a name for himself in music through his melodic singing voice and knowledge behind the boards, producing and engineering numerous hip-hop albums. He released his debut album, Spittin Image in 2005.
