RELEASE NOTES
Born David Amon McCann, the youngest of thirteen children, Amon
learned early and often that he had to work extremely hard to get
anything and fight even harder just to keep it growing up in the Bay
Area. Inspired by rap legends Scarface, Rakim, Kool-G-Rap and N.W.A.,
Amon began coining his first rhymes at the young age of nine and
selling them to his classmates on the school yard. Growing up fast,
Amon had his first son at a young age. It was then that he decided to
take his music hustle more seriously. Coincidentally, Amon met Eric
and Jamaal, who already had a rap duo called E&J. Personalities and
interests of all 3 perfectly molded and they formed a new group called
Prime Suspect, which quickly garnered a strong buzz on the streets of
their community catching the ears of a few independent labels. They
finally settled with Young Gotti Records, whose roster included Sean T
and Scoot Dogg, now of Dem Hoodstars. After failing to convince the
label to drop a Prime Suspect project first, the label soon folded
after releasing Sean TÆs Pimp Lyrics & Dollar Signs, on which they
were featured on the song, All In A NiggaÆs Look.
Soon after, Amon began pursuing a solo career, but still remaining
tight with Eric and Jamaal. Since then Amon has recorded and/or
performed with the likes of Too $hort, B-Legit and Keak Da Sneak to
name a few , He has also appeared on mix tapes and compilations
released regionally through independent formats. His latest release,
When Trumpetz Blow Da Mixtape Vol. 1, which includes the mix tape
classic Capitol, once again reminds the streets and the non-believers
that Amon is still a force to be reckoned with and will not be
ignored. With that said, it is no coincidence that his former partners
in rhyme are now bosses of Nu Truth Entertainment and the driving
force that's bringing Amon to the fore front. Amon has been well
respected in the underground street circuit for a long period of time
and is now focused and channeling all of his energy into being
respected in the rap industry worldwide.
