Lifehouse is an American alternative band from Malibu, California. They came to prominence in 2001 with the hit single "Hanging by a Moment" from their major-label debut album, No Name Face. The single won a Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year, beating out Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys for the #1 Single of 2001. In 2002, they released their follow up album Stanley Climbfall. They have released two more albums: the self-titled Lifehouse in 2005 and Who We Are on June 19, 2007. These albums have spawned the singles "You and Me", "First Time", and "Whatever It Takes", which have all been top 40 hits in the US. The group includes Jason Wade (lead vocals, guitar), Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. (drums, percussion), Bryce Soderberg (bass guitar) and Ben Carey (guitar).
 
The group first came together as a Christian band called Blyss, which performed at a series of church worship services[1] at the Association of Vineyard Churches [2]. They recorded and released their debut album as Blyss (later re-issued as "Bliss") in 1999. Called Diff's Lucky Day, the title referred to drummer John "Diff" Palmers' conversion to Christainity[3]. Original members included Sergio Andrade, Jason Wade and Jon Palmer.
 
Shortly after the death of George Harrison, the band performed an acoustic rendition of "Something" on Last Call With Carson Daly. The band has also covered the Keane single "Somewhere Only We Know" live on Yahoo Music. The group also stated that Keane's album was their favorite album of 2007. In 2007, the band did a cover of The Rolling Stone's "Beast of Burden" for the Stripped Music Sessions. The band says that they wanted to "pay homage to the godfathers of rock".[15] Since the Stripped Sessions were released onto the internet, the band added that song to their setlist at concerts.
"Fairytales and Castles", "What's Wrong With That", and "Fool" originally appeared on the record "Diff's Lucky Day", but re-recorded versions can be found on the album Hanging by a Moment, produced only in Australia and released on June 5, 2001.
 
In 2006, Lifehouse released a song for the soundtrack to "The Wild" called "Good Enough".
 
Jason Wade wrote the song, "From Where You Are" for Allstate's Teen Driving Program. The song was featured on the 'tall lights' commercial and aired on the NBC.[16] The single was made available on iTunes on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Despite having very little radio air-play and not being on any album, the song reached #40 on the Billboard charts. It was the first song that was written expressly for a commercial to make it onto the charts since 1972's "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)".[17]
 
On December 4, 2007, Lifehouse released their own version of the holiday classic "Silent Night" through iTunes.
"Broken" from the album "Who We Are" was used for the official iTunes trailer of the Warner Bros/Newline Cinema movie "The Time-Traveler's Wife" released on August 14, 2009.

No Name Face is the debut album by the rock band Lifehouse. It was released on October 31, 2000, and it produced the hit "Hanging by a Moment" which went on to be the most played song on radio the following year.[1] This album launched Lifehouse into the limelight, and produced many radio-friendly hits. More than many of their rock contemporaries, No Name Face is primarily chorus-driven; each verse is merely a steady build up to a powerful (often electric guitar-driven) refrain.
Lead singer and songwriter Jason Wade originally formed Lifehouse as a church rock band, and often performed for church worship services before signing to the commercial record label DreamWorks.

Lifehouse is the eponymous third album by the group Lifehouse, which was released on March 22, 2005 through Geffen Records.
 
The album is unique to the band as it deviates from their previous musical style. Heavy guitar riffs and catchy rhythms that dominated No Name Face and Stanley Climbfall were replaced on Lifehouse with slower melodies and crooning vocals by lead singer Jason Wade. There is more of an overall mournful tone as well, which replaced Wade's past robust efforts.
 
The album received mixed reviews, but was more popular than their previous album, Stanley Climbfall, and has sold 895,000 units to date.[1] The album primarily rode the success of the popular top 10 single "You and Me", which topped several charts for months on end.

Who We Are is the fourth album by American rock band Lifehouse, which was released on June 19, 2007.
On April 24, 2007, the band released the first single "First Time" to radio stations for airplay. Initially, the song played as an hourly feature on Star 98.7 in Los Angeles for that day. Then the song was later released to all radio stations.
 
"Broken", the album's third single, appeared on the episode "Lay Your Hands on Me" of Grey's Anatomy, "In Birth and Death" of Criminal Minds and in "For Tonight You're Only Here to Know" of One Tree Hill. "Broken" also appeared on the Thanksgiving episode of General Hospital, during a montage of Thanksgiving celebrations in Port Charles and during the final goodbye of lovers Nikolas Cassadine and Emily Quartermaine. This song has peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The official radio version of the song is available on iTunes.[1]
 
Following its release, Who We Are debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 14, selling approximately 49,000 copies in its first week.[2] As of December 13, 2008, the album has sold 526,724 copies in the US.[3] On October 22, 2008, the band released a statement on their website that the album has been officially certified Gold. [4].
 
The album has so far featured two top 40 hits with "First Time" and "Whatever It Takes." This is the band's first album to contain two top 40 hits and their first to have all three singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
