葛令卡以兩齣史詩歌劇《沙皇生活－1836年作品》和《路斯蘭與魯密拉－1842年作品》，讓俄羅斯樂壇開始擁有自己獨特的聲音之後，數十年間熱切國民樂派橫掃全俄羅斯，產生不少最令人興奮、華麗的管弦樂作品。
