獲美國電影學會評選為百大驚悚電影之一的《月光光心慌慌》（Halloween），適逢上映40週年，懾人製作團隊布倫屋製作室（BLUMHOUSE）決定再續經典驚悚之作，由環球影片發行。電影原班人馬再度聚首，由原創人「恐怖大師」尊卡本達 ( John Carpenter）擔任創作顧問連同《思．裂》《訪．客》積遜布林 Jason Blum共同監製，並夥拍《生命因妳更強》大衛哥頓格連 ( David Gordon Green ) 破格執導，《真實謊言》珍美李寇蒂斯 ( Jamie Lee Curtis）繼續擔任女主角，與面具殺人狂進行終極對決。
