1959年的香港，葉問的兒子在一所小學讀書，由於兒子葉問得以認識出自同門的詠春拳高手、人力車夫張天志。黑人老闆費蘭奇讓手下馬鯨笙解決小學場地一事，於是馬鯨笙就帶人強迫校長簽字賣地，幸得到葉問、張天志以及警官肥波等人的幫助，馬鯨笙的陰謀沒有得逞。。為了除掉葉問，費蘭奇就僱傭一名泰國高手去行刺葉問，但是也敗於對方。為了徹底解決矛盾，葉問去找費蘭奇，費蘭奇拳力驚人，不過葉問腳法嫻熟，在三分鐘之內雙方的激烈較量點到為止。
