Feist本名Leslie Feist，她于1976年出生在加拿大的一个宁静小城卡尔加利，自幼喜欢音乐，后来她便用自己的姓氏Feist给自己取了这样一个艺名。 起初先是在高中，她和几个同样喜欢摇滚乐的朋友组建了一支朋克乐队——Placebo，有意思的是这和现在英国十分走红的那支朋克乐队有着相同的名字。后来Feist率领她的乐队在当地一系列的摇滚比赛中取得了优胜，小有名气的他们后来成为了The Ramones在加拿大演出的开场乐队。 正当她的音乐事业有了些起色的时候她却因病突然失声了，几乎断送了她的音乐事业，也许是这场疾病带给她的一些人生感悟，痊愈后的feist一改往日的音乐曲风，开始了只有一把吉他和简单的录音设施做出来的质朴的音乐。 1999年她录制了第一张属于自己的专辑，使她获得了音乐的新生，之后她加入了成员不定的后摇乐队broken social scene，获得了喜人的成绩。 作为Broken Social Scene三姝中最有人气和个人魅力的一位，Feist在2004年发行了那张让人惊艳的Let It Die之后，一直忙于穿梭在各个music project之中，除了BSS的巡演，还为Peaches和Postal Service客席献声，也在06年发行了名为Open Season的b-side和remix合辑。
